Peer review on class papers

I feel peer review on our papers is a wise choice. It is nice to get others feed back on things you have written. I can ask family members and they always say it good, but do they say that inspite so they don't hurt your feelings or do they just not know what to say. With peer review I think it is great!! Everyone has different ideas on all subjects. You can use their advice or leave it with out offending them at any point. Some may come across strong and just remember they are only trying to help. Some may not come across at all, but we need to remember we are all in this together and we are all in a learning world of education.

Week 6

My life has been in a whirl wind this last week. Can't believe it is this far in the class only a few weeks to go. Trying to write this paper has been hard. I have been on a different shift which I am having a hard time adjusting to it. I start at 4:15 am so I need to get up at 2:30 am to get going. The drive is 45 minutes one way, then when I get done with work, I need to take a nap. After my nap I have to make a meal and then I loose track of time and then it is time for bed, between 8 and 9 pm. So I still have to figure out my time to do school work. I think the best time is when I get home then nobody is home or they are sleeping. My oldest boy, who has disablities has a girlfriend and he calls a lot to tell me what they are doing. Thanksgiving is just around the corner, thank goodness we are going out to eat. Then christmas I will have to cook the usual and for only 6 or 7 people the most would be 12. That will be fun!! I love to cook but hate doing dishes.

Prewriting techniques

As I torture myself on writing a paper on Anorexia. I have to jot down many ideas of what anorexia involves such as: health risks, starvation, peer pressure, possible family pressures and why would some one actually want to starve their bodies of many needed nutrients for the fundamentals of growth. So I guess this is brainstorming.
In the other technique of prewriting is free writing. In free writing, I just let my mind flow. I jot down ideas that I get after I brainstorm and these ideas are not in full sentences, sometimes they are just little segments of the sentence. With these little segments I can add to as they are needed in the paragraph. Some ideas that I have will never be used not because they are not good ideas just because could not fit them in to my paper any where.
So I guess you can say brainstorming and free writing are really valuable techniques in order to have a great paper in the end. We just need to take one step at a time.

Writing and APA Format

Writing takes a lot of research and work. With having the right resourses available to you through the Kaplan library and the web makes the research a whole lot easier. Even though it is very time consuming, it will be worth it when we are finish and in our chosen field in the medical profession. As we go through the writing course we will be learning different techniques with the writing process. With learning the proper ways to make an outline of the topics, then when you have the topics you can brainstorm your ideas to small little sentences or just ideas you may want to right about. You may not use all your ideas but at least you have them if you need them. Then we will get to fill everything in as we expand the sentences into paragraphs then into pages. Then when the paper is done we need to give credit were credit is due. By this I mean if you paraphrased or quoted something from someone else, you need to let them get the credit. This is were APA format comes in play. As we continue in the journey of academic writing we will be using this on a regular basis. APA format looks scary, but I feel the more you use it the easier it will be. Nobody has to be perfect in the APA format because we have our peers and professor to help and if we can not get help from them we can go to the writing center.
Also we have our handbook with great examples of all types. The handbook is a great tool for all.
If the handbook is readily available it will be used more than once.

This is my first blog. Don't no if this will work but I am trying. I am doing my paper on anorexia nervosa. The eating disorder is just interesting due to the concern why would anyone want to vomit to lose weight. I can not imagine vomiting just to lose weight I don't like it when I am sick. I am sitting here by the computer during the packer/viking game, well the packers are not doing to well right now. My husband is watching the game and getting upset. I say it is only a game. My dog is under my feet like always.
